Shopify Updates Asset URLs for Improved Performance & Security

In the coming weeks, Shopify will begin serving certain store assets (e.g., images, JS, CSS) from a store’s domain rather than a Shopify CDN domain. Assets will either use the new URL format (shop.example.com/cdn/...) or continue with the old format (cdn.shopify.com/...). This change will apply to liquid tags and storefront HTML but not to API responses or headless shops. Additionally, new product images will now use the /files path instead of /products, although previously uploaded images will retain their paths. Benefits include improved page load times, enhanced security through stricter CSP and CORS policies, and less Shopify branding on merchant domains. Ensure that custom code is updated to support both URL formats.
