Shopify has introduced automatic localization for customers visiting stores that use a 'primary domain only' strategy or a custom domain shared across multiple markets. With the 'Automatic redirection' setting enabled, pages will now automatically adjust to show region-specific content based on the customer’s GeoIP. For instance, Canadian visitors on a US-based store will see CAD pricing. Non-primary market content won’t be indexed by search engines when using this feature. This is available to new merchants now and will roll out to existing merchants on September 6. Note: EU customers aren’t automatically redirected within the EU due to local legislation.
