Shopify Enhances Inventory Tracking With On Hand & Unavailable Quantities

Shopify introduces two new inventory states—On hand and Unavailable—in the Shopify Admin. 'On hand' tracks physical stock at a location, while 'Unavailable' includes reserved items and those set aside by apps. These additions offer real-time, accurate insights into inventory across locations, helping to reduce lost sales, misplaced stock, and excess ordering. Additionally, the new Inventory States API enables third-party apps to modify inventory values, enhancing visibility and control.
