POS Checkout Update Affecting Split Payment Third-Party Integrations

Shopify has updated the POS checkout infrastructure, affecting split payments. When orders are created with multiple payments, they will temporarily appear as ‘partially paid’ in the database until the final payment is processed, updating the status to ‘paid’. Apps or integrations querying the order during this period will see the ‘partially paid’ status and receive multiple webhooks for each payment rather than a single webhook for the entire order. Shops using third-party integrations for fulfillment based on these webhooks need to ensure their workflows only fulfill orders when the order’s ‘financial_status’ is ‘paid’.
